Aero Peek Start Buttons by jpranaymartin Aero Peek Start Buttons by jpranaymartin
A start button designed to balance your screen by emulating the Aero Peek button. Works well with the default theme... obviously... and looks good with dark wallpapers. Comes in two variations - top taskbar, small icons or bottom taskbar, big icons. If you can't mod it to fit you're needs (yes, I'm allowing mods, but not re-releases), then tell me and I'll charge you a million dollars to make you the .bmp. ONLY JOKING! :P But seriously, I'll make more variations if you want.

Get it working with =Kishan-Bagaria's Start Orb Changer: [link]

Inspired by ~xjannikx's concept, [link] Thanks mate!

If you likey, download and fav. Have ideas and suggestions? Leave me a comment and if you're bored, check out my gallery. (it's OK to admit that you're bored; it's winter and I'm bored too! ;))

EDIT 1: Now available for all taskbar configurations!
EDIT 2: New variation - Hover and click to see the good old Windows colors!

Oh, and here's another orb by yours truly: [link] Cheers!

Hey, I switched to a Mac two years ago. So I haven't kept up with Win customization.

However, if you can send/link me to a png used by Start8 then I can customize this image to fit Start8.

Thanks for the fav! I'll try to put it together asap but before i start, do you use large icons or small icons? Sizing it the right way is a hassle...

Btw, You have an amazing gallery going! Keep up the awesome work and good luck with the photography! :)

Shucks. I'm sorry bro but the peek button start orb is impossible. Windows automatically centers the orb in a way that makes it impossible to put the image high enough. It's always shunted down. Sorry to disappoint... :(

That's alright. I'm glad you tried. I'm sure it'd still look cool if it was not way in the top corner. It could be down a bit. If you have the file, I could take it and see what I could do with it. :D Thanks again!

I've uploaded the .bmp and all other files here: [link]

I tried some other start button resources to be sure but still no luck - it's still shrunk and lowered.

First of all, it's a great idea, but I also thought about a version that simply includes classic start orb's colors, too. I don't know to use PS or something like that, so I simply tried to clarify myself with this:

If you use filter it can be look much better I suppose.

The original point was to create a balanced taskbar - I used exactly the same image the visual style uses for the Peek button. But your idea is plenty good too. I'll see what I can do to incorporate the Flag of Redmond.

The pixels are jammed as far left as possible. Truth to be told, I don't know where that second line of white pixels is coming from. There is one column of dark pixels on the left edge but the actual peek button has those too. Windows has weird rendering protocols and this is based on a bitmap while the original resource is plain old png. You can try polishing it if you want.
